The World of Cashmere

Cashmere is one of the most precious natural fibers in the world. Even with the first wear, you notice the difference: The material is exceptionally soft, supple, and surprisingly lightweight. It provides warmth without weighing you down and adds a timeless touch to any outfit - whether as a sweater, scarf, or fine knit cardigan.

Cashmere is obtained from the undercoat of the cashmere goat. Only a few grams per animal can be combed out by hand each year. Exactly this naturalness, rarity, and careful processing make cashmere so special and a material that we can wear for many years if we care for it properly.

Why is high-quality care so important for cashmere?

Cashmere is a living, natural fiber. With the right care, it remains soft, keeps its shape, and retains its luxurious feel. Over time, however, small pills (pilling) can form, especially in highly stressed areas such as sleeves, cuffs, or under bags. This is not a lack of quality, but completely natural and a sign of the fiber's softness. This makes it all the more important to use care that gently cleanses, protects the structure, and carefully smooths the surface.

Recommended care: Cashmere Care Lotion by Hemisphere

The specially developed cashmere care lotion by Hemisphere is ideal for gentle cleaning. It helps to gently clean fibers, preserve the natural feel, and reduce pilling.

How to use the Cashmere Care Lotion correctly

The lotion is specially developed for delicate natural fibers like cashmere and cleanses exceptionally gently. To protect the fibers, the following application is recommended:

Hand wash

  1. Fill a bowl with lukewarm water
  2. Add one to two caps of the lotion to the water
  3. Carefully submerge the cashmere item and move it gently
  4. Do not rub, wring, or knead
  5. Let it rest in the water for 5-10 minutes
  6. Then rinse gently with clear, lukewarm water

Gentle cycle care (if machine washing is possible)

  • Turn the garment inside out
  • Select the gentle cycle / wool program
  • Cold or max. 30°C water
  • Low spin speed (max. 600 rpm)
  • Add Cashmere Care Lotion to the detergent compartment

After washing: drying & shaping correctly

How to keep cashmere in shape:

  1. Do not wring out the garment
  2. Gently squeeze it out or roll it in a towel
  3. Then lay it out flat
  4. Pull into shape and let it air dry
  5. Never hang up or dry on the heater

Gentle removal of pilling with fabric shavers from Steamery

Light pills can be gently removed without damaging the fibers. The fabric shavers from Steamery are particularly suitable for this. They carefully smooth the surface and remove lint and pills evenly. The fabric shavers are therefore ideal for cashmere items such as sweaters, scarves, cardigans, and much more.

How to use a fabric shaver correctly:

  1. Lay the garment flat
  2. Pull the fabric smooth
  3. Work with light pressure in steady movements
  4. Only remove as much as necessary
  5. Then gently air the item

Not recommended for wet or damp textiles, heavily stretched fabric areas, and chunky knits.

Cashmere for longevity

Cashmere is an investment in quality and comfort. With gentle care, the right cleaning, and a gentle fabric shaver, your favorite pieces will retain their timeless elegance and accompany you for many seasons to come.

Air drying, gentle cleaning, and occasional resting between wears help the material maintain its structure. Instead of conventional detergents, a specially formulated care product is recommended to protect and gently clean the delicate fibers.
